Digital life-form is a heavy subject.
What is life?
Many people anf philosophers wanted to answer this question. There is many definitions of life, but none of them seems to be universally valid. I think, when we will find extraterestial lifeforms, it may complicate our knowledge about lifeforms even more.
So how philosophy about life have to do with technical, digital electronics project?
Answer is, for me - there is a many types of lifes, but they have something in common:
Every lifeform is actively striving to survive. Even if what is accually surviving is just gens in DNA code.
Our system, should have possibilities to sustain work despite changes and darmages.
There is no such a thing like indestructible electronics or computers. The solution for it, is instead of use one computer, which always will be have limited resources, many identical replaceable counting nodes.
nodes need to be able to organising them selfs, and replace or repair broken units.
Usage of almost infinite number of this kind of nodes, we will be able to use them as swarm unit, which need to be threaded as whole. Imagine milions of robots in the shape of bricks, who can organise themself into a boulding in a matter of hours!Everything without a big central master computer, just like a cels in a living body!Ways of usage can be beond your imagination.
In the future it can be used to drive big number of nanobots, supporting medical self-replicating nanobotes, nanobotes paint for use as any surfrace screen and many more.
But back to earth (for now)
On this stage of project, there is a need to implement simple rules and algoritms to nodes, to allow them to bouild network.So starting from the beginning, we need to deal with:
- Hardware capabilities
- Communication between nodes
- Data managing algoritms
- The nodes are identical in the production stage. (May have same ID number for network identification)
- The properties of hardware can be different (link speed, memory size, counting power)but should be the same inside same network
- Nodes are dynamically self-organising into working network without any external influence
